THE ENVIRONMENTAL ACTIVISTS PRESENTED THE DAMAGES CAUSED BY THE COPPER MINES NEAR TEGHUT VILLAGE

On January 26, 2012, in the Zangakatun Charitable NGO’s Zangak Centre in Vanadzor, a discussion was held devoted to the ecological problems concerning Teghut forest. The discussion was organized by the Zangak Centre. Children who attend the centre, their parents, students, pupils from school №2 in Vanadzor, and representatives of several NGOs participated in the discussion. Armine Zakaryan and Mikayel Mkhitaryan, from Peace Dialogue NGO, Gevorg Vardanyan, an activist from the Trchkan civil initiative, and Perch Bojukyan, the coordinator of the AARHUS Centre’s Vanadzor office, were invited to run the meeting and provide detailed information on the topic.    more»

Let's Save Teghut Forest environmental group, consisting of 250 activists went to Teghut on January 15 to draw attention to the ecological disaster which will be caused by the exploitation of the mines in the forest of Teghut. In the morning, participants of the initiative from Vanadzor met the Let's Save Teghut Forest group members from Yerevan and Gyumri in Vanadzor’s Hayq Square and then, after a short updating event, made they way to Teghut to do their part to save the forest.    more»

On the 19th of January a discussion of theatrical tools and their use in youth mobilization was held in Alaverdi with the representatives of Peace Dialogue NGO and World Vision Armenia’s Alaverdi ADP office.
